The Worthiness of the Lamb

Imagine the scene: a scroll with seven seals, representing God's perfect plan and judgment, lies before the throne. No one in heaven or on earth is found worthy to open it. John, the author, weeps in despair. But then, an elder steps forward, declaring that the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, is worthy! And when John turns, he sees not a fierce lion, but a Lamb standing as if it had been slain. This Lamb is Jesus, our Savior.

In our verses today, a new song erupts around the throne. It's not just any song; it's a 'new song' – a composition born from a groundbreaking, never-before-seen event. And the central theme? The worthiness of Jesus. "You are worthy to take the book, and to open its seals." Why is He worthy? The answer reverberates through the heavens: "for you were killed." His worthiness isn't found in His power alone, but in His sacrificial love. The cross, a symbol of shame and defeat to the world, becomes the very foundation of His worthiness in heaven. Purchased by Blood, United in Christ

A Kingdom of Priests, Reigning with God

The final part of this new song declares the destiny of those purchased by Christ's blood: "and made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign on the earth." This is our identity, dear Bible Club members! We are not just saved individuals; we are part of a kingdom – God's kingdom. And we are priests, a chosen people set apart to minister to God and represent Him to the world. In the Old Testament, the priesthood was exclusive; now, through Christ, all believers are made priests, with direct access to God.
